Software Freedom Day

Software freedom day is an annual worldwide celebration of Free Software. SFD is a public education effort with the aim of increasing awareness of Free Software and its virtues,Celebrate SFD with us on September 17! and encouraging its use. This year, the world is celebrating SFD on Saturday, September 17. 294 events has been registered so far across the globe. Luckily, this year FOSS Club is blessed to have 50+ students(2nd years). This time we are celebrating SFD grandly.

These are the programs:

1. Sessions (10 am – 12.30 pm)
– Raj Mohan sir  -> FOSS experience (30 minutes) (10.AM – 10.30 AM) (Venue: Conference Hall)
– Avinash  ->  Skype session (30 minutes) (10.30 AM – 11.00 AM) (Venue:  Conference Hall)
– Sree priya->  Latex (30 minutes) (11.00 AM – 11.30 AM) (Venue: 1st Floor lab)
  – Bithin -> CMS (1 hour)(11.30 AM – 12.30 PM)  (Venue: 1st Floor lab)
 
2. Entertainment (2 pm – 5.30 pm)
  * Games + competition
– Presentation on “How FOSS club improved my skills” (2 PM – 3 PM)
– To prepare slides   (30 minutes)(Venue: 1st Floor lab)
– Presentation       (4 min/ student)  (Venue: Conference room)
– Arvind/ Giri   -> feedback(1 min/ student)
 
* FOSS movies (3 PM – 5 PM)
– Sintel + Big Buck Bunny + Elephant’s dream (2 hours) (Venue: Conference room)
 
* Cultural events (Venue: Conference room)
– Celebrate Software Freedom Day Song (10 minutes)

The second part of the SFD will be conducted in the next week, and will be truly focused on non-cs-faculties, CS faculties will also be
invited.
